Who we are

Glimbo ("we", "us") is a cozy virtual pet game where you raise a Glimb and share moments from your life. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Depending on how you play, we may collect:

  • Account information — email and profile details when you sign up.
  • Gameplay data — pet stats, progress, mini-game responses, tasks completed, and in-app actions.
  • Photos and camera input — when you use features like feeding or walk discovery (with your permission).
  • Voice recordings — when you use microphone features such as teaching words (with your permission).
  • Location — approximate location during outdoor walks (with your permission).
  • Device and app data — basic technical information needed to run the app, prevent abuse, and improve stability.
  • Advertising preferences — if you are in a region where we show ads, we ask for your consent choice for personalized or non-personalized ads.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Run the game — sync your pet, progress, friends, and saved content.
  • Power game features — for example, classifying food or objects in photos through our secure server, without sending your personal text or voice to third-party AI providers for those features.
  • Keep the service safe, debug issues, and improve performance.
  • Show ads in the free version (where available), respecting your ad consent choices.
  • Process subscriptions if you choose Premium (handled by Apple, Google, or Stripe).

AI and automated processing

Some features use automated processing on our servers. For commodity vision tasks (such as recognizing food or objects in a photo), we send images only to our Supabase Edge Function, which may call cloud vision providers. Results can be cached to reduce repeat processing.

We do not send your free-text explanations, voice recordings, or behavioral context to third-party AI providers for those classifications.

Gameplay data for product development: When you create an account, you agree (via our Terms of Service) that Glimbo may use your stored gameplay responses — including photos, voice, teaching labels, mini-game answers, and walk discoveries — to improve the game and to build training or licensing datasets. This applies to all players and is not a separate in-app toggle. Only our team and authorized admin tools can access identifiable player data; aggregated or de-identified datasets may be used for research and licensing.

Children and families

Glimbo is designed to feel welcoming to players of many ages. If you are under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), you should use Glimbo only with a parent or guardian's permission.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent where required by law. If you believe a child has provided personal information without consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

We limit data collection to what the game needs to function. We do not use behavioral advertising targeted at children.

Where data is stored

Your account and game data are stored in Supabase (hosted cloud infrastructure). Photos, voice clips, and similar uploads may be stored in Supabase Storage. API keys for third-party AI services are kept on our servers, not in the mobile app.

Sharing with third parties

We may share limited data with service providers who help us operate Glimbo, such as:

  • Supabase (hosting, database, storage, edge functions)
  • Apple / Google (app distribution, in-app purchases)
  • Advertising partners (only where ads are shown and subject to your consent)
  • Cloud vision providers (image-only requests via our edge function)

We do not sell your personal information.

De-identified or aggregated datasets derived from gameplay may be licensed to third parties under contractual restrictions, as described in our Terms of Service.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, and resolve disputes. Cached AI inference results may be stored without direct user identifiers to improve efficiency.

When you delete your account in Settings, we delete personal identifiers (such as email and username) and associated uploads where technically feasible. We may retain anonymized information — such as age band, country, and walk discovery coordinates without personal identifiers — to improve geolocation features and game design. This retained data is not linked to you after deletion.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated personal data (Settings → Delete account)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing where applicable law allows
  • Export your data (contact us if not yet available in-app)

For EU/UK users, our lawful bases include performance of our contract with you (providing the game), consent (advertising where shown), and legitimate interests (security, service improvement, and anonymized analytics), balanced against your rights.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections, access controls, and server-side processing for sensitive operations. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong password and keep your device secure.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our hosting providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards where required by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of Glimbo after changes means you accept the updated policy.
